We are pleased to announce that SmartZip has launched its own Chainlink node live in production. The SmartZip Chainlink node gives smart contract applications on-chain access to real estate automated valuation model (AVM)—an estimated market value for a house generated by a machine learning model. AVM produces an estimated value using mathematical modeling based on nearby transactions, surrounding location data, and historical property prices. It’s used by property owners and real estate agents to compare similar properties at a given time, leading to more accurate valuations.
Smart contract developers can now call the SmartZip Chainlink node to get real-time, cryptographically signed AVM data, which can be leveraged within new types of decentralized applications built solely around real estate data. Some examples include: pricing tokenized real estate assets like NFTs and using them as DeFi collateral, settling prediction markets based on future home values, and creating new parametric insurance models to hedge against downtrends in home prices.

By operating a Chainlink node, we now have a single gateway to supply our data to any current or future blockchain, as well as cryptographically sign our data on-chain to prove it originated from the SmartZip API. The node setup process was seamless and required minimal time and technical effort, all while exposing our data to an emerging sector of the real estate market.

SmartZip’s proprietary predictive analytics model aggregates data from 24 sources and contains over 1 billion data points on residential and commercial real estate, including up-to-date homeowner information and regional real estate market dynamics, to bring invaluable data to real estate agents. SmartZip users can specify target markets and regions to identify properties likely to list, as well as leverage data and predictive analytics to determine fair market values.
